The new Spirit of Queensland rail service combines modern seating and entertainment options with the romance of long distance rail travel.Travelling the state’s coastline from Cairns to Brisbane and all regions in between, the first service was introduced in October 2013. Contemporary, comfortable and designed for relaxation, the newest addition of the Queensland Rail Travel fleet offers new features that will redefine the modern rail travel experience.
Each of the new trains carries 172 passengers and boasts an Australian first with the revolutionary RailBed seats that convert to a lie-flat bed for overnight travel. The new Spirit of Queensland operates five return services per week.

Along with the new RailBed Innovation, The Spirit of Queensland boasts a new state of the art entertainment system including an 18.5 inch screen, a 240V powerpoint and a USB point to add to your experience. Railbed seats recline at 35 degrees with a pitch of 2065mm; the bed length is 1900mm for the window seat or 1700mm for the aisle seat and width of 515mm.
Spirit of Queensland’s Premium Economy seats are an excellent alternative to the new Railbeds featuring full leather seats that recline at 30 degrees with a pitch of 1080mm. These seats also provide the latest in seating technology with generous leg room and features state of the art personal entertainment system with a screen size of 8.9 inches, offering on-demand movies, music and audio books.
