Milsons Passage

As its name implies, Milson's Passage is a narrow strait on the Hawkesbury River, to the north of Sydney. It is also the location of a cluster of charming original cottages, boatsheds and renovated weekenders just 5 kilometres upstream by boat, from the Hawkesbury River Bridge and Kangaroo Point. To get there by car, you can drive as far as Brooklyn, where you must leave your car and take a 15 minute boat trip up the river.

Most houses are privately owned by Sydneysiders who come to stay nearly every weekend. There is always something to observe from the sanctuary of a comfortable chair, as the passage itself - which separates Milson Island from the mainland - is regularly used by boats travelling further upstream. For those with their own boat or hiring one, there are small river beaches and many kilometres of pristine shoreline to explore.
