Neerim South

A picturesque town in the West Gippsland region, Neerim South is set in the hills at the base of Mt. Baw Baw. It is a busy tourist town servicing both the snow fields in winter and the gourmet traveller all year round.

Location: 110 km east of Melbourne; 19 km north east of Warragul

The town’s main industry is tourism. It contains art galleries, a working Alpaca farm with an Alpaca product shop, cafés, restaurants, a pub and bed and breakfasts. Until 2008, the bakery still cooked bread in the wood-fired oven built in 1880. The town hosts a Celtic Festival each November. The area has numerous wineries, and is known for its blue cheese.

Points of Interest: Glen Cromie nature reserve; Glen Nayook nature reserve; Baw Baw National Park; Tarago Reservoir.
